When Maggie Forrester wakes up naked in bed with her boss, iceman Will Brian, she’s sure it must be a dream. Or a feverish hallucination at the very least. But magic takes over when she begins to experience an impossible other life—complete with an alternate husband—and she’s forced to confront the reality of the man she loves versus the man she’s fallen in love with.
After secrets she believed long buried surface, both of Maggie’s realities are threatened. As the truth of her past comes to light, she must decide which man she truly loves and which life she wants to live—if the choice is even hers to make. Sometimes, true love is even worth wishing for.
Floating on a cloud…fluffy marshmallows…feathers…
I drifted lightweight, free. My cloud smelt of freshly washed cotton, soft hints of citrus and—I twitched my nose—a man. Clean, masculine scent. I breathed in again and worked through each item on my list. Cotton, citrus, man, and a surprise element of new carpet, as well. One of my eyes flickered open while I preserved my illusion of still being asleep by keeping the other closed. Then I snapped it shut as fast as a sprung steel trap. I was being watched.
“Hello…Will.” I amused myself by using his first name—small things—and smirked at the direction my sleeping self had meandered before I added, “Again.”
I closed both of my eyes, willing my dream to recede as I surrendered to the luxury of falling into a dreamless doze.
The rustle of crisp bedsheets woke me a short while later, and I stretched, stifling a noisy yawn. I let my eyes slide slowly open as I savoured the moment between sleep and awake, dream and reality, and I stared vaguely at the ceiling, before scrubbing my hands over my face. Another migraine toyed with me, brewing through my sleep-sodden mind, because I couldn’t focus properly. I blinked closed and back open with controlled deliberation. Then, once more.
I didn’t turn my head towards him as he spoke.
“Again.” The remnants of sleep deepened his voice, and my stomach fluttered insudden response to the attractive sound.
